Maharishi School is famous around the world for its achievements in academics, the arts, creative problem solving, sports, and student quality of life. These successes are the result of Consciousness-BasedSM education, which is education for enlightenment.
Through the development of the total potential of their brain physiology, Maharishi School students enjoy success in all areas of life. Classes consistently score in the top one percent in the nation on the Iowa Tests of Educational Development. Over 95 percent of the students are accepted at four-year colleges and universities.
The effectiveness of Consciousness-Based education is clearly demonstrated by the wide range of honors and awards won by Maharishi School students:
- Grades 10–12 score in the top 1% nationally, and in Iowa, on standardized tests (ITED)

- Grand Champions: Eight grand champion awards in the past decade in the junior division of the Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair
- First place: Twice winner of the state spelling bee
- State Record: Most Critic’s Choice State Banner Awards for speech in the past decade
- National Champion: Bravo Cable Channel High School Theater Competition
