Preparing to Learn

The first three steps of the seven-step course provide the knowledge that prepares you to learn the Transcendental Meditation technique.

Step 1: Introductory Lecture

The first lecture reviews the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation technique for the mind, body, behavior, and world, and presents the scientific research confirming these benefits. You’ll also have plenty of opportunity to ask questions. (1 hour)

Step 2: Preparatory Lecture

The second lecture explains why the technique is so simple and natural, distinguishes the practice from other forms of meditation, and presents the traditional origin of the program. At this point, you’ll have all the knowledge you need to begin learning the technique. (1 hour)

Step 3: Personal Interview

Right after the Preparatory Lecture, you’ll meet with a qualified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation program, ask any additional questions you may have, and make an appointment for personal instruction. (10-15 minutes)

At this point, you’re ready to begin the four steps of instruction, which are given on four consecutive days.

NEXT: Four days of instruction
