Janet is a very experienced TM teacher, having taught in the local area for 32 years and before that in London and the south coast. She has taught many people from all walks of life including families whose children attend the local Maharishi Free School, as did her own sons. Near to the Maharishi school, there is a spacious meditation centre, offering regular group meditation, and a natural health care clinic providing superb Maharishi Ayurveda treatments. In 2000, this development won the prestigious British Urban Renewal Award in recognition of its success in improving the quality of life in the area through a "joined-up approach which addresses education, health, housing, employment and crime in a positive and unusual way".
