Mary learned the TM technique in 1973 in Illinois. She moved to Colorado and lived at the TM center while studying music at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She was inspired to become a teacher of the TM technique. She taught the TM technique in Colorado after her teacher training course in France in 1977 and in 1983 she moved to Hawaii with her husband and they have been teaching the TM technique full-time ever since. She has taught TM to hundreds of people and was involved in a research project instructing native Hawaiians the TM technique on the Big Island. More recently she has been involved in a research project with the David Lynch Foundation offering the TM technique to doctors and nurses at a major local hospital in Honolulu.

Mary is also a certified consciousness advisor offering Technologies of Consciousness to help clients reach their full potential. She is also a professional part-time wedding singer.
